The petition to amend the zoning ordinance was submitted by Doris Sassower, who owns , a historical site which is in the R1-30 Zoning District. There is no bed-and-breakfast classification in the City code, however Sassower collects and pays the City's required hotel occupancy tax.

Also on the meeting agenda is a vote on whether the City should purchase an .8-acre open space parcel near the City’s drinking water reservoir on Chadwick Road and west of Orchard Street, for about $130,000.

The parcel would increase the City’s open space inventory, and connects to a recently purchased 1.09 acre open space parcel, known as the Frances Place Parcel, and City-owned unimproved street right-of-ways.

The City says the acquisition would serve to further protect the City’s watershed, and protect the existing plant and animal species on site, including the Eastern Box Turtle, which as been known to occupy the area and is currently on the endanger species list.

The City will also vote to extend a $1 per trip taxicab surcharge through Dec. 31, 2011, and to amend the Affordable rental Housing Program Rules and Procedures, as well as the Affordable Home Ownership Program Rules and Regulations to adjust Family income Limits by family size to reflect the 2012 limits for the county.
