Police: Man Arrested Over $23 Bar Tab

The following arrest information was provided by the White Plains Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A City man who the manager at said had a history of running out on bar tabs was arrested after he told a bartender he didn't have the cash to pay his tab.

The man, 36, ordered two high-end drinks from the restaurant at 199 Main Street and ran a tab of $23 around 8 p.m. Thursday. When the bartender handed him the check, he said he had no cash or cards to pay.

Since the bar's manager said he remembered the man from a previous incident when he didn't pay, he threatened to call police. When the man still refused to pay, White Plains police were called.

The man tried calling his wife to come in and pay, but when she didn't answer police placed him under arrest.

The man was charged with misdemeanor theft of services and held for court on $500 bail.
