Flu Shots; Library Job Club and the White Plains Planning Board Meets

  • The White Plains Library is hosting its Job Club discussion series today at 10:30 a.m. Career counselors Ginny Ruder and Rose Macom will lead the ongoing weekly job club include writing resumes and cover letters, preparing for an interview, using the Internet and social media with the library's resources to conduct a job search and tips on developing a strong professional network. It is recommended that people attend the entire series, but participants can come when they are able. The White Plains Library is located at 100 Martine Ave.

  • The Westchester County Department of Health will offer free flu shots to residents ages 9 and up on today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Westchester Community College in the science building ground floor student lounge on the Valhalla campus. Residents can register in advance for the flu clinic at www.health.ny.gov/Go2Clinic, but walk-ins are welcome, so if the appointments fill up, don’t worry.
  • The White Plains Library is celebrating “Teen Read Week”  today with a new Teen Book Review Club. Teens are invited to review new books before they are published and discuss ways to share your reviews with teens and publishers. Pizza and refreshments will be served. The club starts at 5 p.m. The library is located at 100 Martine Ave. in White Plains.
  • The White Plains Common Council is scheduled to meet tonight at 7 p.m. inside city hall, located at 255 Main St. A copy of the agenda can be found here.
  • Look for the thermostat to hit 70, according to the National Weather Service.
