Halloween Fun at the White Plains Library; Cellist Nancy Donaruma Scheduled to Perform at Grace Episcopal Church

  • Westchester Jewish Community Services is hosting its Helping Woman workshop: “That's Not What I Meant to Say! Building Your Communication Skills” today at 9:30 a.m. The workshop will provide tips on communicating, listening, boosting confidence for networking and the interviewing process and communicating more naturally. Westchester Community Services is located at 845 N.   • The White Plains Library is hosting preschool storytime:”Halloween Fun” today, including a craft activity, for ages 4 & 5 without adult. Literacy connections are made at "Stories & Stuff" where stories are centered around a theme and children listen & interact with corresponding rhymes, songs and/or finger plays. A final craft project ties in with the topic fostering a sense that stories are imaginative, yet lasting, and continue to enrich our creative thoughts and play. The sessions will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis 30 minutes before the start of the program. The White Plains Library is located at 100 Martine Ave.
  • The Grace Episcopal Church in White Plains is hosting cellist Nancy Donaruma today for a performance of theShostakovich Sonata in D minor; Opus 40 for Cello and Piano,and the Beethoven Trio in B flat Major Opus 11 for its Noonday Getaway Concert series.  Ms. Donaruma played with the New York Philharmonic for 31 years and is currently Artistic Director of the Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society.  She is joined by colleagues Judith Muir on clarinet and Peter Muir on piano. The event, which is free, begins noon. The church is located at 33 Church St.
  • The White Plains Library is hosting a special Day of the Dead / Día de los Muertos storytime today at 7 p.m. Stories will be told in Spanish and English. Tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis 30 minutes before the start of the program.
