Today in White Plains: Thrifty Boutique Sale; Job Club at the White Plains Library; and Brain Health at Burke Hospital

  • Midday Lane Closures begin on the Bronx River Parkway today. Motorists are advised that there will be limited access to northbound Bronx River Parkway from the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers to the Westchester County Center (Exit 22) in White Plains continuing through Friday, September 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Go here for full details.
  • The City of White Plains Recreation & Parks Department invites the public to stop by the Thrifty Boutique, located at the Recreation & Parks Dept. Community Center, 65 Mitchell Place, for its Outdoor Sale today. The sale, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., will feature new and gently used items such as collectible, fashion items, jewelry, decorative items and home goods. Re-sale of these items helps sponsor senior citizen programs throughout the year.
  • The White Plains Library is hosting its Job Club discussion series Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Career counselors Ginny Ruder and Rose Macom will lead the ongoing weekly job club include writing resumes and cover letters, preparing for an interview, using the Internet and social media with the library's resources to conduct a job search and tips on developing a strong professional network. It is recommended that people attend the entire series, but participants can come when they are able. The White Plains Library is located at 100 Martine Ave.
  • In recognition of White Plains Wellness Week, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital will be sponsoring a free brain health presentation today at 12:30 p.m. Mark Herceg, Ph.D., director of Rehabilitation Psychology and Neuropsychology at Burke, will present an informative session on the importance of keeping sharp and things that can be done to support brain health. The conference will be held in the Patient Dining Room of the Wood Building (bldg 7) on Burke's main campus, 785 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains. This event is free of charge and open to the public.
