Buchwald Lays Out Jobs Plan, Accepts Harckham Endorsement

At a press conference in Katonah, City Councilman and Assembly candidate David Buchwald was endorsed by Majority Leader Pete Harckham as he laid out his agenda to create jobs here in the 93rd Assembly District. Buchwald and Harckham were also joined by local small business owners as they discussed the importance of creating jobs and bringing stores back into local main streets like in Katonah.

"As a City Councilman, I've helped make sure White Plains stays 'open for business.' I've seen how government can forge effective partnerships to bring jobs back to our main streets," David Buchwald said. "But there's a lot more we can be doing to make sure the jobs of the future are located right here. Improving the economy and lowering the unemployment rate is going to be my top priority as Assemblyman. We need results on jobs, unfunded mandates, and help for small businesses - not more political rhetoric from the same Albany insiders who haven't produced for us."

In his remarks, David also laid out an aggressive plan to boost the economy in Westchester and help produce enough good jobs for the middle-class. David's plan is to:

1) Bring new science and technology jobs to Westchester while continuing our support of companies already here.
2) Better support small businesses, create an online one-stop-shop for small businesses, and work more closely with local chambers of commerce and business improvement districts.
3) Roll back unfunded mandates to provide property tax relief to local businesses and homeowners.
4) Make smart investments in our infrastructure.

Buchwald also stressed the importance of supporting workforce development, and helping employers who train, re-train, and retain workers in these difficult economic times.

Majority Leader Harckham also praised David as "the right choice for families here in Northeast Westchester." "David has the experience to get the economy working for us again. As a former economic analyst, he knows what it will take to create good, middle-class jobs in places like Katonah. David's gone through the City budget line-by-line to cut wasteful spending and save taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. He's been working with small business owners to make sure they have the support they need to prosper. That's the approach we need, and I'm proud to support him."

David Buchwald is a White Plains City Councilman and the Democratic, Independence, and Working Families Party candidate in the 93rd Assembly District. The district covers the towns of Bedford, Harrison, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, New Castle, North Castle, North Salem, and Pound Ridge, as well as half of the City of White Plains. David has also been endorsed by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Mayor Ed Koch, Rep. Nita Lowey, the NYS AFL-CIO and numerous labor organizations, and every major pro-choice advocacy group in Westchester County and New York State.
