Bisnow New York's Second Annual "Future of Westchester and Fairfield Counties" Event Provides Expert Insight on the State of the Commercial Real Estate Market

Panel of experts offered measured optimism on the future of local commercial real estate in the region

More than 250 area professionals attended Bisnow Media’s 2nd Annual Future of Westchester & Fairfield Counties event on Thursday, July 18, at the Hilton Stamford Hotel & Executive Meeting Center in Stamford, Connecticut.

The planners and panelist delivered a comprehensive program that touched on the topics relating to the future of Westchester and Fairfield counties.  The distinguished panelists came from a variety of business disciplines in the commercial real estate arena and included Jeremy Leventhal, Managing Partner - Faros Properties; John Barnes, Senior Vice President and Managing Director - Suburban Division of Reckson, a Division of SL Green Realty Corp.; Brett Wilderman, Principal - Forstone Capital; Alex Argento, Senior Vice President and Director of Operations - Vidaris, Inc.; Jeff Newman, Executive Vice President - Malkin Properties; and Jose Cruz, Senior Managing Director - Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, L.P. Steve Kirn, Partner NE Construction - McGladrey, was the moderator.

Most agreed the region was on an upward trend and expressed optimism about the future, but cautioned that Fairfield and Westchester were still “tenant’s markets”.  They believe building amenities and proximity to transportation would continue to be driving factors in a company’s decision to relocate their headquarters or set up a satellite office outside of New York City and developers need to take that into account when planning new investments.

“The team at Vidaris is very optimistic about the future of the Westchester and Fairfield markets,” said panelist Alex Argento, Sr. Vice President and Director of Operations there. “The resources that are currently being invested in new construction and major renovation projects will pave the way for sustainable growth in the future.”

Attendees from a wide range of real estate professions made for lively breakfast-time networking and many expressed the event format provided excellent opportunities to spend time with friends and business associates while making valuable, new connections.

“This year’s event was as successful as last year if not more so,” said Bisnow Business Manager Miles Bloom. “Our panelists were very forthcoming in their responses and the audience appreciated the breadth of their experience and honest perspectives on the commercial real estate market.”

The event was sponsored by Vidaris, Inc., McGladrey, and Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, L.P., with marketing partner Co-Communications, Inc. and offers ample opportunity for networking before and after the panel discussion.
