DOROTHY JENSEN REALTY EXPANDS IN WHITE PLAINS

Dorothy Botsoe, born in Ghana, West Africa and a licensed Real Estate Broker, has taken a new office in North White Plains. Botsoe has managed to do in her 25 year-career what most people only dream of doing in an entire career and what most realtors accomplish as part of a larger team with a principal broker.

Botsoe has listings all over Westchester County and some in Rockland. She is a foreclosure expert and because there are so many foreclosures in Westchester, she is often the realtor Fannie Mae turns to. Fannie Mae is focused on homeowners' dreams, as its website name, www.homepath.com implies, and that's Botsoe's ambition as well: I want to help first-time homebuyers, Botsoe said.

"My goal is to build a team," she said. "I plan to hire agents and expect to have even more longevity in this business. I have a solid business plan, but most importantly, my business will thrive because of relationships. I plan to give back to the community and yes, earn money.

"Real estate has given me flexibility," Botsoe continued. "It has given me control of my time and allowed me to manage a business."

Botsoe's agency, Dorothy Jensen Realty, specializes in service. To demonstrate that, she was recognized by the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors, Inc. as 2012 Realtor of the Year and before that New York State Women's Council of Realtors as Realtor of the Year. HGAR, Inc. recognized her among 9500 Realtors.

Her service to the community is also impressive. For seven years she was a volunteer firefighter in Hartsdale where her office was then located. "That was hard work," she said. "I like to do things that buck the system; previously there were no women. I ask questions and gather knowledge that way. Knowledge is power," she said. "It's important to ask questions."

Fair housing and cultural diversity are also primary interests of this Realtor, and she teaches fair housing. "I want equality for all," said the Realtor, who emphasizes that education is of primary importance to upward mobility. She explains her goals as helping people to stay in their homes or fulfill the American dream to own a home.

Other: Personal information: Lived in Manchester, Eng., went to school in Texas and Washington, D.C.; she has three children.
