Holding on to perfectly good furniture you just don't need, want, or like anymore, just because you want to see it go to a good home?
Since 2007 Furniture Sharehouse has been collecting average-sized, clean, gently used furniture, redistributing it free of charge to clients of about 40 Westchester County agencies. To date almost 40,000 items have been given to 2500 households in need.
They are open, and DO accept donations year round, but this Sunday (11/10) from 9am to 3pm volunteers from Our Lady of Sorrows and Archbishop Stepinac will collect your donations at their Fall Furniture Drive at Stepinac High School on Mamaroneck Avenue.
Kitchen tables and sturdy chairs, sofas, mattresses and dressers are especially in need this time of year.
This video from a 2012 grant competition tells the very compelling story. Please find out more details-including *DONOR GUIDELINES* by visiting the website. If nothing else, come by, say hello, and get to know more about Furniture Sharehouse. Thank you!
