HARTSDALE FAMILY FARM COMES TO THE WHITE PLAINS FARMER’S MARKET

The sound of tractors tilling the fields is not unusual in the quaintly named section of Hartsdale called Poet’s Corner.  Westchester Greenhouses and Farms, owned and operated by the Chiocchi siblings, Joe and Carol (Avila), has been a working farm in this location for generations.

They grew up on the property, learning the business from the inside out, at the right hand of their father, Joseph Sr. They now cultivate over thirty acres, on which they grow a large variety of flowers, fresh herbs, and produce.   Many locals are familiar with their on-site farm stand, where, in addition to selling their fresh produce and plants, they carry a wide variety of donuts, pies and assorted fresh baked goods.

Long-time participants and staunch supporters of local farmer’s markets, Westchester Farms & Greenhouses has been with the Downtown White Plains Farmer’s Market from the very beginning.  Look for them at the top of Court Street, on the 7-Eleven side, closer to Martine Ave., from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, rain or shine.
