WESTMED Recognizes White Plains Heart Doctor for Excellence

“Dr. Leonard Finkelstein Excellence Award is an annual award presented by the WESTMED Board of Directors to the physician who most embodies the ideals of Dr. Finkelstein, a doctor demonstrating the highest level of clinical quality with compassion and selfless devotion to patient care,” said Dr. Jen Johnson, chair of the award  nominating committee.

“Dr. Cziner is described by his colleagues as ‘the gold standard’. One WESTMED colleague said, “He’s smart, calm, reassuring, warm, relaxed, evidence-based, and a real doctor’s doctor. You know when you send him patients, they will get the best possible care, delivered in a warm, supportive fashion.”

He was awarded his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Bellevue Hospital Center where he went on to complete a fellowship in cardiology. Dr. Cziner was a senior fellow in non-invasive cardiology

at NYU’s Tisch Hospital.  He is chief emeritus of the Department of Cardiology at White Plains Hospital and is also on staff at Greenwich Hospital.

One of Dr. Cziner’s patients praised him as “an exceptional physician who is helpful, understanding, patient, and most of all available. He communicates as well with his patients and their families as he does with his fellow physicians. He is informative, proactive, and will always take the time to explain decisions that he has made in respect to his patient’s care.”

Dr. Cziner was joined by his wife, Dr. Leslie Blum-Cziner, his son Jonathon, his daughter Sarah, his sister Lori and his nephew Adam to celebrate the special evening.

WESTMED’s Dr. Leonard Finkelstein Excellence Award is the namesake of a founding member of the, then, Westchester Medical Group who practiced internal medicine in the area for more than 35 years, most recently in WMG’s Purchase office. Dr. Leonard Finkelstein was known for his dedication to his patients and the respect he showed his colleagues. The Excellence award in his name, an annual award, is presented to the physician who is voted by his/her peers to embody the ideals of a WESTMED physician, demonstrating the highest level of clinical quality with compassion and selfless devotion to patient care.
