Harlem Fine Arts Show In White Plains Thursday

Westchester Alumnae bring Harlem artists to White Plains this Thursday.

Supporting the arts is just one of the ways the women of the Westchester Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta have given back to the community for more than five decades.

The group recently celebrated their 53rd anniversary with an informal gathering at White Plains Lanes bowling alley. And this week, they are celebrating the arts with an arts show and sale that spotlights the cultural richness of Harlem.

This Thursday, the group is sponsoring a show of more than 15 artists called Harlem Fine Art Show in White Plains, NY.

Harlem artists will display and sell their work at the event Thursday, December 5, from 6-9 p.m. at the Reckson Building Lobby, 360 Hamilton Ave.

The Westchester Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta was founded October 31, 1959 in New Rochelle and has thrived ever since.

Chapter president Margaret Bing-Wade said the chapter currently has 210 members, including 36 new members.

The 53rd anniversary of their chapter dovetails with the upcoming centennial anniversary of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in Washington, D.C. this January 2013
