Naomi Adler, local United Way CEO, Heads to Philly

Naomi Adler, CEO and President of United Way of Westchester and Putnam. will leave the non-profit this spring.

Adler has been tapped to head the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, according to JTA.org. 

Adler told thejewishexponent.com she is excited about combining her passion for Judaism and fundraising. A cantorial soloist, she is the daughter of renowned Jewish composer Samuel Adler and is married to Rabbi Brian Beal of Temple Beth Torah, a Reform congregation in Upper Nyack.

She spent 13 years running the United Ways on both sides of the Hudson. Among her many projects was Nonprofit Westchester, an advocacy and lobbying cooperative that several local non-profits including United Way and the Westchester Community Foundation launched in 2012.

Following her departure in the spring, officials said, "The UWWP looks forward to new leadership who values quality education, financial stability, healthy lifestyles, and compassion as deeply as Adler. As always, UWWP will continue its unflagging support of those who live and work in the region. 

"During Adler’s leadership at UWWP, the organization spearheaded emergency food and shelter assistance advocacy and bolstered the 2-1-1 helpline, a vital resource for Lower Hudson Valley residents." 

“There are not many CEOs who can claim they slept on an air mattress in the office in the heart of Hurricane Sandy,” said Gregory D. Bassuk, Esq., Chair of the UWWP board of directors and Chief Operating Officer of IndexIQ, in a statement. “Ms. Adler has devoted herself entirely to creating better communities and lives for residents and will always be a part of the United Way family.”
