New Rochelle OKs Free Holiday Parking Rules

Two-hour free parking begins Dec. 10 and continues through Dec. 31.

Get ready to spend those quarters on holiday gifts.

The City of New Rochelle has OK'd two-hour free holiday parking beginning Dec. 10 and continuing through the end of the year. The free parking is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The City Council unanimously approved a resolutions Tuesday waiving the parking fees during that period of time.

Free parking is available in all lots controlled by meters or ticket machines, excluding the New Roc City Garage, the New Rochelle Transit Center Garage and all permit parking areas.

Normal parking rules will be in effect at 9 p.m. to midnight Dec. 31. Parking will be free for 24 hours Jan. 1, and normal parking regulations will resume Jan. 2.

It does not include on-street meters, according to the City Manager. The free parking is only in the municipal parking lots, not including the New Roc Garage and the Transit Center, and does not include the permit areas of the lots.

OH MY GOD...Free municipal parking lot parking for the holidays! "The City Council unanimously approved a resolutions" Why waste your time every year on this? I make a resolution that you( City Council) make this permanent, that right, every freaking year! By the way they should of made it one hour, who needs more then one hour to go to a dollar store?

Still not bringing me to downtown New Rochelle! There's really no reason to stop (let alone shop) there.
