Port Authority: Storm Caused Hundreds of Cancelled Flights

The Port Authority of New York/New Jersey reports that all of it's airports remain open despite numerous flight cancellations. Passengers are urged to confirm flight times with their airline carriers before travelling to the airports.

First, the good news.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey are reporting that Laguardia, Newark Liberty International, Stewart International, Atlantic City International and Teterboro airports were all open this morning.

Unfortunately, all flights at JFK International Airport were suspended due to zero visibility and wind-blown snow on the runways and hundreds of other flights have been cancelled due snow and wind conditions.

As of 6:30 a.m., LaGuardia Airport reported 190 flight cancellations while JFK reported 120 and Newark International Airport reported 274.

AirTrain JFK is still being operated with limited service and bus service is being provided. AirTrain Newark is suspended, but bus service is still being provided.

Tunnels, Bridges Remain Open with Speed Restrictions

Port Authority officials are reporting George Washington Bridge, Goethals Bridge, Bayonne Bridge, Outerbridge Crossing and Lincoln and Holland tunnels remain open. The eastbound Express Bus Lane at the Lincoln Tunnel is closed.

The George Washington Bridge has a 35 mph speed restriction, while The other Port Authority crossings have a 25 mph speed restriction.

PATH, Bus Terminal Still Running

All PATH service is operating on a normal schedule.

The Port Authority Bus Terminal is open, but several private carriers have limited or no service this morning. NJ Transit is running normal service in and out of the facility. Passengers are urged to check with carriers before leaving for the bus terminal.

The port is open, but truck gates into the major container terminals are closed today.
