Original story: With President Barack Obama's planned speech Wednesday at the Tappan Zee Bridge, the Village of Tarrytown has issued a warning to commuters that some parking lots will be off-limits while the Commander in Chief is in the area.

The president is speaking at the span - which is being replaced by a new bridge under construction - to draw attention to the need for additional federal infrastructure spending.

In an email Monday to commuter parking permit holders (text below), the Village warned that "numerous areas of non-resident parking" will be closed:

Please be advised that on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, numerous areas of non-resident parking will be closed due to a special event. Parking Permit holders are advised to seek street parking along West Main Street (4-hour restriction will not be enforced), the temporary permit lot, the recreation lot, and the senior citizen center lot. Additional parking will be available in the Walgreens parking lot, northeast section only. Any other areas of this lot will be subject to being towed.

Thank you,
Village of Tarrytown

The parking and potential traffic congestion issues have touched a nerve with many residents in the Comments Section of local and social media.

One Patch reader named "Jo" called the infrastructure disruption a "disgrace."

"news reporting he will arrive at rush hour..the man has no respect for the working guy..none at all.. a disgrace in every way possible...(sic)"

The Journal News also reported on the logistics and potential disruptions; click here to view the story on The Journal News website.

social media seems to hit the nail on the head - the poser is beyond a disgrace - he is America's shame. He comes here for no other reason than to campaign for democRATS against the repub controlled House: "see what THEY are doing?" - is the so oft repeated, puke slogan. Ukraine is on the verge of civil war, Syria is burning, Iraq is falling to Queda, the Chinese are moving on the Senkakus, North Korea and Iran are nuclear and threaten the US with an EMP for which we are defenseless - yet Obama comes to the area to disrupt the lives of the Citizens. He jams a big salty thumb into our eyes!! He IS America's shame!

Ahh the DS rants - so ubiquitous, almost comforting even in the predictability.
