Arts Westchester Accepting Award Nominations

The organization is accepting nominations for the 2013 Arts Award from now until Dec. 21.

 

Arts Westchester is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Arts Award; project nominations will be accepted in a variety of categories from now until Dec. 21.

The award recognizes people and organizations "whose vision, commitment and leadership enrich Westchester, its communities, and its citizens," according to a statement. Arts Westchester and lead sponsor, the First Niagara Bank Foundation, kicked off the nomination period during a breakfast event Friday on Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains.

“This event recognizes the overwhelming amount of talent that our county has to offer,” Arts Westchester CEO Janet Langham said in a statement. 

The categories for 2013 are Arts Patron, Artist, Arts Organization, Community, and Education. Nominees must live in, work in, or have some connection to Westchester County.

A panel of local artists, community leaders and an awards committee from the Arts Westchester Board of Trustees will select winners. Awards will be presented during a luncheon on March 20, 2013.

Past winners of the prestigious award include former New York State Gov. Nelson Rockefeller, Osier Davis and Ruby Dee, former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins, the Westchester Philharmonic and the Katonah Museum of Art.
