 ,   Add to calendar
 White Plains  See map

This multimedia event is free and open to the public.

“ORAL HISTORY IS JAZZ” will feature a wide range of stories taken from the testimony of   eyewitnesses to large-scale historical events--the Cuban revolution, the revolution that overthrew the Filipino dictator Ferdinand Marcos, the September 11 terrorist attacks—as well as  stories about the Harlem Renaissance, Baptist preachers, the Great Depression, the experiences of a former Pan Am stewardess.

The oral histories, some multi-media presentations, some with photographs, will be exhibited. Students will read their own work based on or inspired by oral history. The evening will culminate in a performance by author and internationally-renowned performer, Penny Arcade.  Refreshments will be served.
