An 80s Dance Party for cancer, a school carnival and more this weekend in White Plains

The weekend is almost here and you will surely be looking for ways to unwind. Here is this week's Grab & Go Planner to the rescue with things to do locally this weekend.

1.) The Very Hungry Catepillar

Where/When: 228 Fisher Ave., on Fri. April 8, 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 9 at 11 a.m. Show lasts about an hour.

Why go: Presented by the Mermaid Theater of Nova Scotia, this special black light show will entertain the kids. You'll love seeing their smiles as their favorite stories come to life. The show features The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Mixed-Up Chamelion and Little Cloud. Best for ages pre-kindergarten through second grade.

Pricing: Tickets are $14. Groups of 25 or more, $9 each.

2.) Westchester Networking for Professionals Happy Hour

Where/When: , 166 Mamaroneck Ave., on Fri. April 9 from 6 p.m. -8 p.m.

Why go: This TGIF event is a great way to start the weekend. Come eat, talk and relax at this networking event. RSVPs a must.

Pricing: First 30 people will get $2 off a drink. Special appetizers sold for a discount price of $5. Happy hour starts at 6 p.m.

3.) Easter Bunny Breakfast

Where/When: , 125 Westchester Ave., at the Food Court, Retail Level 4 on Sat., April 9 from 8:30 a.m. -10 a.m.

Why go: Get out of bed, visit with the Easter Bunny, do crafts and have fun. Entertainment, prizes and giveaways too. Breakfast, coupon for photograph and additional goodies for Kidgits members. You can join before or at event.

Pricing: Free for all.

4.) Strawberry Shortcake Movie

Where/When: City Center 15 Cinema De Lux, 19 Mamaroneck Ave., Sat. April 9 at 12 p.m. and Sunday, April 10 at 12 p.m.

Why go: A great opportunity to take children to the movies. This film runs about an hour and half. It is lots of fun to take the kids and watch them see a movie on the big screen. It is short enough so they can last and the price is right!

Pricing: $3.50 per person. You'll also get a concession coupon for the $3.50 kids combo.

5.) 80's Prom Night

Where/When: 171 Main St.,  on Sat. April 9 from 7 p.m. -11 p.m.

Why go: Get out your blue eye shadow and leg warmers! Go in your closet and dig out your most tubular 80's attire! 

It's Awesome 80's Prom Night.  Tickets include: full dinner buffet and two drinks. Entertainment provided by "DJ McFly". Hosted by The Young Adult Leadership Council of Gilda's Club of Westchester. Evening will benefit Gilda's Club of Westchester, a free cancer support community for those impacted by cancer.

Pricing: Tickets are $50 each.

Where/When:, 250 Mamaroneck Ave.,  on Sat. April 9 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Why go: A day of family fun that includes healthy snacks, fitness challenges, face painting, crafts and more.

Pricing: Free

7.)

Where/When:  , 295 Church St., White Plains on Sat., April 9 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Why go: Carnival games for all ages, crafts, manicures, face painting and more! Amazing silent auction and raffle too. Spring Book Fair open during carnival too. Event is indoors.

Pricing: Tickets prices will range from $.25 / ticket, 20 tickets for $5, 45 tickets for $10 (5 free) and 90 tickets for $20 (10 free).  Cash only will be accepted when purchasing food & tickets. Checks will be accepted for the Silent Auction.

8.)
Where/When: , 550 North St., White Plains (North Street Parking Lot) on Sunday, April 10 from 9 a.m. -1 p.m.

Why go: A great way for you to dispose of those extra pieces of furniture and give them a new home with needy families. This is sponsored by White Plains High School Students and the INTERACT Club.  Event will be held rain or shine.

Pricing: Free- just your furniture!

9.)

Where/When: Kerala Ayurveda Center, 1305 Mamaroneck Ave., on Sun. April 10 from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Why go: This special event marks the opening of the first store of its kind in White Plains. Come learn about Ayurveda and receive a free consultation. Light refreshments will be served.
