So its Sunday morning and you are deciding - where should I go for Bagels? If you live in Hartsdale, NY, you have a choice of four different places to go within a one mile radius!
You can start in downtown Hartsdale on East Hartsdale Avenue with Bagels and More at 224 East Hartsdale Avenue - 914-722-4444. They have stools and tables inside and a few tables outside where you can take your breakfast or lunch.
A couple of doors down, there is Enrico’s Bakery and Cafe at 214 East Hartsdale Ave, 914-723-0340. Besides their great Pastry shop, they have a variety of bagels that are complemented by the Appetizing Department housed within the same Cafe. For those of you who live in Hartsdale, you know that the old Hartsdale Cheesery closed in 2010, and the owners of Enrico’s Bakery now houses the Hartsdale Cheesery appetizing. They have assortment of flavored cream cheese (our favorite is herb and garlic), smoked fish and more. Also make up platters.
Moving to Central Avenue, there is a new Sunshine Bagel where the old Dunkin Donuts was right off the corner of West Hartsdale Ave and Central Avenue at 57 N. Central. This is Sunshine Bagels third store. First was and still is in Ardsley on Saw Mill River Road across from Starbucks in town, and the second was opened on Thornwood last year. Good place to stop if just want a quick cup of coffee and bagel.
Moving up Central Ave towards White Plains is my personal favorite Bagel place. is located at 415 Central Park Avenue - 914-684-7062. This is located in between McDonalds and T.J. Max on that strip. And next to Jenny Craig in case you eat too many! They also have seating. They have a great selection including sesame pumpernickel and sesame whole wheat, but also great large bialies. They also have large selection of cream cheese, some appetizing and salads. Their bacon is “crisp”..something hard to find these days!
Now, I will stray from Hartsdale if I am having a “BAD” brunch. That is when I have a Bagels, Appetizing, and Drinks Brunch for friends! I will get my bagels and variety of cream cheese at Highridge Bagel 2...and then will go to Balducci’s in Scarsdale. Link does not list their fish platters, but we get a large whitefish filleted, surrounded by onions, tomatoes, and their smoked salmon.
So, now that the weather is nice again, you can enjoy sitting outside at Bagels and More or Enrico’s in town of Hartsdale (and get a Starbucks coffee across the street to go with it if you like!), or stop by Sunshine or Highridge 2 on Central.
