Travel Apps You Can’t Live Without

Travel today can be a hassle. The never-ending security lines, the constant delays, and don’t forget about the crying children. There are, however, a few different ways to make travel a little easier. Bloomberg Travel has suggested a few apps for your smartphone that will help diminish travel stress.

TripIt:
This handy app takes all the confirmation emails you receive for your flight, hotel, rental car, and more, and assembles them into a trip itinerary so all this information is centrally located. The free version of TripIt is perfect for individuals who do not travel often, but if you are a professional traveler, it is well worth the annual $50 fee for TripIt Pro. The Pro version includes flight alerts, airline refund tracking, complimentary access to some business lounges, and quite possibly the most important feature, an alternate flight checker that locates open seats to the same destination. Having the opportunity to get a new flight booked to get home earlier or ahead of the storm is truly priceless!

TripCase:
While TripCase has some similar features to TripIt, it is made with the business traveler in mind. The app was developed by Sabre, a very large travel-tech company, so a wide range of partner services work seamlessly with the app, such as downloading an itinerary from Travelocity. And flight status notifications are free!

WorldMate:
In addition to assembling travel arrangements into an easy-to-navigate itinerary, WorldMate has the ability to integrate with LinkedIn so you can stay connected with clients anytime. For a $10 fee, you can upgrade to Gold Membership so you can receive flight alerts, alternative schedules and the ability to sync with a mobile calendar. For iPhone users, you can also get exclusive features such as hotel price alerts, booking express info to save details on prior car rentals and hotel information, and “counter offers” for discounts and upgrades.

Roadtrippers:
The beauty of Roadtrippers is that it takes all the stress out of traveling. This is GPS kicked up a notch. You enter your starting point and destination and the app will map out the route for you. But it goes much further than that. Click on the “Places” tab and you can look for recommendations across different categories, such as food, accommodations, attractions, history, and more. This can definitely make your trip more interesting by pointing out neat attractions and historical facts of the area.
