Westchester Goes Country With New Radio Option

Danbury country station expands into northern Westchester and Rockland.

Got a tear in your beer? Teardrops on your guitar?

You've got some company.

Country music lovers in Westchester and Rockland will have a new option tomorrow when Cumulus Country “Kicks 105.5” WDBY Patterson/Danbury begins simulcasting on 106.3 WFAF, an FM sister station in Mount Kisco.

WFAF has been simulcasting sister 103.9 WFAS-FM Bronxville, which is in the process of moving its tower to expand its coverage, according to a story on the industry website "Radio Insight." The FAS format is adult contemporary.

Kicks 105.5 announced the change recently on its Facebook page.

Will you listen? Tell us in comments.

No, I only listen to WDFH FM 90.3 in Ossining...http://wdfh.org/index.html
Josh Semendoff February 29, 2012 at 04:55 PM
Is that a country station too?
Alexandra Oppenheimer, MS, RD February 29, 2012 at 04:57 PM
I listen to them through my computer everyday! I can't wait to have them in my car now!

WDFH is the community radio station for the Lower Hudson Valley. They are in financial straits right now. Please read about it and help them if you can. http://ossining.patch.com/blog_posts/croton-ossinings-wdfh-an-open-letter-from-wdfh-executive-director-marc-sophos On another note, I am very happy to be able to listen to country music here in Westchester County.

WDFH plays an eclectic mix of folk, rock, jazz and blues along with a lot of local Hudson Valley artists...many of whom have played live in the studio. And yes, there's some country in there too.

I got tears in my ears from lying on my back crying over you.

I love Kicks 105.5 already! You can get it pretty reliably as far south as Mt. Kisco. Maybe I can listen all the way to work now! Great news!

That doesn't help me here in New Rochelle. Gosh durn it.

:) Yes, I am so Happy!

You may be able to get it Michael. Check out the coverage map here. Otherwise you're stuck listening to your country music at The Boar's Nest. When you're there say hi to Daisy for me. http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WFAF&service=FM&status=L&hours=U

Yay! I was so sad when we lost our last country station a few years ago. I was in wonderment that a whole type of music couldn't be found on the radio dial. Great news!

Awesome! Can't wait to have country back on the radio without having to go to XM radio!

Blah..country is horrible! Why aren't there any good modern rock/alt stations around here?! You would think New York City would have a good station - what better market?! K-Rock was OK when it was around, but somehow they didn't do so well.. how is it that the millions of people in this area don't listen to rock/alternative?! This is the reason I switched to satellite radio/Pandora...

One of the best Rock stations though will always have been X107 107.1FM!! These guys were amazing, hardly playing commercials and the concert giveaways!! I won tickets to see Greenday out on Long Island and then the next year I won again to see them at Roseland.

I hope they bump up the range on 106.3 as it is still hard to get here in Rye but at long last there is a country station I can listen to, at least until I get Sirius in my car!!!

We got you loud and clear here in Oysterbay Long Island and are thrilled. Keep it coming it is the only Country we have. Thanks
