Community Update

Dear Mayor Roach and Common Council,

I believe that if FASNY is permitted to go through with its plans it will have have an adverse impact on the safety and welfare and quality of life of those living in the surrounding area.

I guess I just don't get it...The feeling within our community is that FASNY has received special consideration from the city administration beyond what is routinely provided.  Many of us sense that "the fix is in" and that the mayor and Common Council have made up their minds.  Indeed, in spite of the fact that FASNY has commissioned bogus traffic studies and altered their plans multiple times contradicting themselves over and over again,  the Environmental Officer of the City seems to have sided with FASNY and feels that any adverse environmental effects can be "mitigated."

Let me pose one question?  What does the city of White Plains have to lose if tomorrow FASNY pulled up their stakes and decided to build their campus elsewhere?  My contention....?  NOTHING!  Even better...no traffic problems, no pollution, no loss of potential tax revenues.  The greatest benefit?  The lifestyle that those of us in the Gedney area have come to cherish will not have to be unnecessarily threatened and disrupted.

Please let me remind you:  you were elected to represent the interests of the citizens of White Plains, New York, not the families of French embassy diplomats and French expats.  If you voted in favor of allowing that campus to be built, you will be siding in favor of "the French" to the detriment of your own fellow White Plains residents.  It's your choice:  "Viva La France"  or, "Long Live White Plains."

If you are going to do the job you were elected to do, there is no question what your choice MUST be.  You must deny FASNY a special permit! I invite any of you who have the courage to do so to respond to this letter and explain to me why the desires of FASNY should trump the concerns and opposition of your own friends and neighbors...
