Nonprofit Westchester Welcomes the Westchester Jewish Council as its Newest Member

The Westchester Jewish Council has just been named the newest member of Nonprofit Westchester (NPW), an advocacy organization that represents more than 90 nonprofits in the county.

“The Westchester Jewish Council is a vital resource to our community and we welcome them with open arms to our growing membership,” said Joanna Straub, Executive Director of Nonprofit Westchester. “As we transition into 2014, we look forward to continuing our growth and providing continued resources to our members who are strong contributors to our society.”

Noted as the central communicating, coordinating, convening advisory and resource body for the county's Jewish community, the Westchester Jewish Council represents over 140 Jewish organizations and serves 150,000 Jews. As the county’s Jewish community relations organization, the Council unites Westchester Jewish community with the State of Israel, fosters communication among Jewish organizations and cultivates and strengthens relations with other ethnic groups, elected officials and the community at large. The Council encourages participation in Jewish life and supports and develops initiatives and programs that meet existing and emerging Jewish communal needs.

Under a cooperative mission to learn, advocate and collaborate, the organization focuses on sharing resources, connections, and information to strengthen Westchester in partnership with the for-profit and government sectors.
