Heat Advisory Issued for Today; Temps to Hit High 90s in White Plains

White Plains resident try to cool at the Kittrell Pool, located on Fisher Avenue. (July 7, 2013)

Remember all the rain from  last week?

Well, that's not going to be an issue today, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

The bad news is that the National Weather Service has put out a heat advisory today from noon to 8 p.m. due to the high temperatures that are expected to hit the area today.

Temperatures are expected to hit about 97 today and the heat index, which measure how hot the weather feels like, is expected to be about 100. The highest heat index values are expected to happen during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Residents are advised to watch out for cramping, fatigue and heat stroke.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool, shaded place and 911 should be called in the event of a heat stroke.
