Updated: Where's the Gas in Westchester?

Please add any gas stations that are open to our growing list and be sure to give the name, location and time.

Long gas lines have become the norm in the last few days as one of the many post Hurricane Sandy effects have been a limited number of gas stations who have power and a supply of gasoline in their tanks.

As more and more residents grow concerned about where to fill up, Patch is putting together a list of stations in our area that are open.

Please add to this list in the comments section below by telling us the name of the station and where it is located.

Keep in mind that some places are putting restrictions on how much gas you can buy, like in the City of Yonkers, where all gas stations are on a 10 gallon limit per customer.

Know of a station open with fuel? Add it to the comments section.

There seems to be gas and a relatively short - and moving - line for the Sunoco on Central Park Avenue near the Raymour + Flanigan. I've only been in it for about 10 minutes(since 1:05pm Sun) but it keeps moving at a "rush hour" pace, which seems fair. Hoping the price turns out to be fair as well. Hope this helps.

How will the situation be the end of next week???
Karen Fedewring November 4, 2012 at 07:53 pm
Just left the Sunoco on Central Park Ave near Raymour + Flanigan. A peacefuland orderly 1 hour + 15 minute wait. Seems like they have plenty of gas, nice staff, regular is only $4.09, bless them. Bring the paper and relax.

I really don't understand all of the people who say they can't find gas. I live in north rockland and work in southern westchester. I can honestly say that I have refueled exactly 4 times since Wednesday, each time at a different station in a different town, and at no point has it ever taken me more than 10 minutes of driving around to find a station with gas. Yes, I've had to wait on line each time, so far the longest I've had to wait was probably just about an hour and that was at the Hess in tarrytown when the line extended down broadway a little past Kraft, but finding gas everywhere I go has not been any sort of issue at all. To those of you driving 30-45 minutes north to avoid waiting on line, how does that make any sense to you???? You're spending the same amount of time as you would be waiting in line only you're using SIGNIFICANTLY more gas, for what!?! To drive 30 minutes away to avoid a 30 minute line not only makes zero sense, it's wasteful, especially for those of you that really believe there is some shortage of gas. There is no shortage, only a massive bunch of idiots frantically lining up to get gas now because they believe there is one. All of you idiots are going to create a shortage.

I've been all over rockland county and lower westchester and there is gas everywhere, if you can't find it on your own without the help of patch then I imagine you're the type of person who can't do anything without someone holding your hand. I was reading comments on the other patch page where people are listing where gas is available and there were actually people complaining to other posters about going to the gas stations they listed and not finding gas. This is INSANE. I can think of 5 gas stations I saw today alone that have gas. The Sunoco on 202 in mt ivy, the shell right next to it, the mobil on 59 in nyack, the Hess in tarrytown, the gulf on 119 in elmsford, the shell station in Irvington, that's 6 and I can actually keep going. This is not difficult people. There is gas everywhere and this isn't just today all 6 of those stations have had gas at some point of every day since Wednesday

And for everyone complaining about price gouging, to you I say boo hoo. Stop crying, "wahhhh they're charging an extra 20 cents this is so unfair for us they're taking advantage of us." Alot of these gas stations have had to have all their employees working the same shift to control the massive lines of panicking idiots. How do you expect them to cover the extra labor costs of having 7 employees on at once instead of the usual one or two? You idiots aren't even thinking about that. If you don't want to pay the extra, find another station. If you don't have enough gas to find another station, that is nobody's fault but your own for not filling up before the storm and/or waiting til you were empty to get gas. Some of the comments here are really pathetic. This panicking nonsense has gotten so far out of hand.
Allison Shore November 4, 2012 at 09:03 pm
Making me laugh here are a few comments to you. 1. Price gouging is illegal and the governor has mentioned that during this natural disaster. 2. Just because you live in an area where gas is plentiful does not mean that people who are having a hard time finding gas are making up this problem. We just experienced the worst natural disaster to hit our tri-state area and you are attacking people who feel weak, scared and hopeless? Shame on you for being so apathetic. 3. Rockland county is not westchester county. Stop posting mean and hurtful comments on a comment board that is supposed to facilitate people receiving gas. People are just asking for help.
On that note: this morning I was on empty and woke up at 5:00 to search for gas. I found some on S. Kenisco in WP. It seems that in the past two days they are getting early morning shipments and open between 5-7. Good luck everyone! Hopefully in a few more days things will be back to normal.
tom November 4, 2012 at 09:38 pm
Hey "making me laugh" You are the biggest hypocrite. Let me quote you,"only a massive bunch of idiots frantically lining up to get gas now because they believe there is one. All of you idiots are going to create a shortage." Sounds like you are one of those idiots. In less than one week you have gone to the gas station 4 times! You are a moron! You are one of your own idiots you mention. I filled up last Sunday and I still have gas. FOOL!
John Smith November 5, 2012 at 10:54 am
Drkving to the train...Sunoco on central near hartsdale Ave.seems to be pumping gas with no line. Other stations have cones out right now, but the lack of an early morning line is a nice sign.
tom November 5, 2012 at 12:27 pm
Making Me Laugh, you are hillarious and did make me laugh. You basically admitted to buying gas every single day last week. HaHaHa. I have never seen anyone more paranoid than you. You tell everyone else not to get gas and form lines and shortages. This is because you want the gas all for yourself. You are so scared, that you buy gas every single day. You are too funy and too pathetic.
Joe G November 5, 2012 at 01:14 pm
I thought about commenting on your stupidity, however I think your own posts make it perfectly clear to anyone who can read.
Congratulations laughing boy.

I'm glad to see someone else put on paper some of the reaction I have had to being required to pay aRead More fee to park at WestMed. I think the fee is unconscionable! I was even more insulted when I received a tone-deaf response to my complaint about the fee from the head of WestMed. I understand that WestMed ended up paying considerably more for the parking facility than anticipated, but that's no justification for charging clients who have no choice but to park there in order to receive vital services. It's a gross insult to the patients. It's not our fault that WestMed had to cough up more dough. With new WestMed locations being opened every few months, clearly the company is not hurting financially. And, what's most ridiculous, is that they hired a staff of four or five parking attendants to issue tickets and instruct us how to pay for the parking! Why not use their salaries to help defray the facility's cost? You're right that it's pure greed because WestMed could have chosen to recoup the cost more slowly and not charge a fee. When I expressed my displeasure about the fee to my doctor, he posed an interesting question: when the facility's cost is paid off, will WestMed continue to charge for parking? By this time, WestMed has certainly recouped enough of the cost to make a dent in the overall expense. It's time to get rid of the fee and restore some dignity to what used to be a fine organization. In the past I heartily recommended family, friends and many others to WestMed. Now, I've got a very nasty taste in my mouth about WestMed! Shame on you, WestMed!
Clifford Blau June 15, 2013 at 09:48 am
It's not true that parking is required. You could do as I do and walk there (assuming it isRead More actually the White Plains office you are referring to and not Harrison), or take a bus, or a taxi, or have someone drop you off and pick you up. And if you aren't happy with their service, go somewhere else. There are lots of doctors not affiliated with Westmed.
Cathy G June 15, 2013 at 04:41 pm
Clifford, thanks for your two cents! How lucky for you that you can walk to your doctor's office andRead More not have to pay to park!
