White Plains Extends Pool Hours Wednesday, Thursday

With temperatures expected to stay in the 90s through Saturday, White Plains residents are being advised that both the Kitrell and Gardella municipal pools will have extended hours Wednesday and Thursday.

The Kitrell Pool, which is located on Fisher Avenue, and Gardella Pool, which is located on Ferris Avenue, will be open from noon to 7:30 p.m., a hour-and-half longer than usual, the next two days.

A recreation ID, which can be obtained at the city recreation and parks at 85 Gedney Way, is needed to use the pools. Pools are only open to White Plains residents.

A heat advisory remains in effect for the region until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Seniors can also access stay cool at the city senior center, located at 65 Mitchell Place. The center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Reservations, which are needed to reserve lunch and bus transportation to the center, can be made by calling (914) 422-1423.

The White Plains Public Library is also open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday; and 1 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The library, along with the Galleria, Westchester and City Center malls are locations listed as cooling centers open to the general public by Westchester County.
