White Plains Residents Flock to City Pools

More White Plains residents are making their way to the city’s pools this year compared to last year, according to city Recreation and Parks officials.

Fran Croughan, recreation administrator for the Parks and Recreation Department, said the city’s pools have been receiving a nice crowd this summer and that her department has seen an increase in the number of pool passes handed out.

The city’s pools are located at the Gardella Park, located on Ferris Avenue, and the Kittrell Park, located on Fisher Avenue. Pool passes are only available to White Plains residents and are free as long as they show their identification card from the recreation department.

“We don’t have exact numbers yet, since we collect them quarter,” Croughan said. “But we have seen an increase and the pools are being utilized. I think there are two factors that have led to the increase. The economy and the heat."
