VIDEO: Wind, Rain and Trees Down in White Plains

A few businesses remain open in downtown White Plains while Sandy approaches.

Few cars are driving through downtown White Plains this afternoon as winds pick up and cold rain falls with Sandy's approach.

A few Mamaroneck Avenue businesses were still open around 2 p.m. Monday - Brazen Fox and Lazy Boy Saloon among them—but most businesses are closed in preparation for Hurricane Sandy.

On Dekalb Avenue a tree fell over power lines and Con Edison trucks were there assessing the damage. Dekalb off Maple Ave. is closed due to the damage. Police temporarily blocked of Martin Lither King Blvd. near the Maple Ave. intersection, but that had opened by 2 p.m.
