11th Annual Adele Rohrlich Memorial Lecture

Ethics of Family Dementia Care: Navigating Tough Decisions

Since 2003, the Alzheimer's Association has presented the
Adele Rohrlich Memorial Lecture to offer advanced Alzheimer's care education to families as well as professionals. The lecture is named in memory of long-time

Westchester resident Adele Rohrlich in recognition of the Rohrlich family's
many years of loyal support.

Keynote speaker, Lisa P. Gwyther, MSW, LCSW, was named a distinguished social work practitioner by the National Academies of Practice. She is the founder and director of the Duke Center for Aging's Alzheimer's Family Support Program, a world-renowned assistance center for family and professional caregivers. She served on the U.S. federal advisory panel on Alzheimer's disease for nine years, and during that time she provided expert testimony for congressional hearings on Alzheimer's. In 1998 she was honored as one of the thirty founders of the national Alzheimer's Association. Ms. Gwyther has published over 140 articles, book chapters and books on Alzheimer's care and family caregiving research.
