2nd Annual HSRC High School Local History Conference

The Historical Society of Rockland County is proud to host the second Rockland County High School Local History Conference, bringing together students, Social Studies Honor Society advisers and Department Chairs from throughout the county.

Keynote speaker: Dr. Travis Jackson, who will highlight Rockland County’s unique place in American Civil Rights history with a talk on “Hillburn: A Story of Tragedy and Triumph.” 

Other speakers include:

  • County Executive Ed Day
  • County Historian Craig Long
  • District Attorney Tom Zugibe
  • County Clerk Paul Piperato
  • Senator David Carlucci

Students will present research projects about historic places in their communities to their peers and invited guests. Community service opportunities in Rockland that relate to history will be suggested and discussed. Please note that attendance at the conference is by invitation only.
