EMERGING YOUNG LEADERS YOUTH SUMMIT

White Plains Youth Bureau has collaborated with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Pi Iota Omega Chapter to host The Emerging Young Leaders  Youth Summit on April 5, 2014 from 9:30am – 11:30am for local 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  The event, held at Eastview Middle School, is intended to provide a forum for middle school students grades 6th-8th which will equip, excite, and connect young people in our community around STEM-based subjects and careers. The summit will focus on teaching students effective leadership skills, character building, and STEM core area skills.
The theme for the youth summit is, “Meeting the Challenges of Your Future.” The event will be a morning of workshops and forums with a large focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We will also be providing specialized workshops for the parents in attendance, which may be an opportunity for parents to become familiar with the college financial aid process.
The EYL Youth Summit is free to all registered participants and students must be in middle school to register.  Online registration is available at www.piosummit2014@eventbrite.com. Deadline for registration is March 31, 2014. You can obtain more information by emailing piosummit2014@gmail.com or contacting White Plains Youth Bureau at (914) 422-1378.
