Community Corner

February Mtng w/Planning Commissioner Cheteny

The Guest Speaker will be recently appointed White Plains Planning Commissioner Elizabeth Cheteny.

Ms. Cheteny is an urban planner, preservationist and economist previously with the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, where she was Project Coordinator responsible for the State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) of a proposed clinical science center. Before that, as Director of Planning at the Urban Design Project at SUNY Buffalo, she was recognized by the American Planning Association for her work on Olmsted City: The Buffalo Olmsted Park System — also cited for Excellence in Historic Preservation. She was also a Vice President at AKRF, the environmental and planning firm often used by White Plains as a consultant.

Ms. Cheteny's broad experience of economic revitalization studies for municipalities, grant proposals for non-profits, impact studies for a variety of recreational and conservation projects, and her civic activism — she was a Trustee and Mayoral candidate in her East Aurora, NY hometown — will inform her approach as Commissioner. She will discuss her plans and take questions from the audience.
