January Monthly Meeting

The January Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 7:30 pm at Education House, 5 Homeside Lane, White Plains, NY. The Guest Speakers will be White Plains Superintendent of Schools, Christopher Clouet and Robert Hoch, President of the White Plains Historical Society.

The terrible tragedy in Newtown, CT has raised concerns about student safety nationwide. Superintendent Clouet will discuss safety in our White Plains schools and respond to comments and questions from the audience afterward.

Mr. Hoch, a popular guest speaker and noted history buff, will talk about the history of White Plains, in particular the American Revolutionary period. He too will take questions afterward.

The meeting is open to the public and will start promptly at 7:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served. Turnout to hear Mr. Hoch and to discuss school safety with Superintendent Clouet will be brisk, so please come early to get a good seat and allow time for audience participation and networking.

P.S. Annual dues are $25. Delegates should bring a check payable to WPCNA to the meeting.

If you'd like to speak or have a suggestion for a future WPCNA meeting, please let us know.

In high school, I was on the Rifle Team. We ought to bring that back. We had a rifle range in the basement of the school. Match guns, .22s. we knew had to break them down and put them back together. We cleaned them after every use. Proper instruction in firearms use and ethics goes a long way - imbues a healthy respect for guns as well as an understanding of why we have guns and should always have guns. It's an Olympic sport, it's a fantastic sport - eye/hand coordination/concentration and a time honored American Tradition which supports the Constitution, 2nd, 5th, 9th and 10th Amendments in particular. The Science Teacher in our high school, Mr. Shor, was the best! great role model, great teacher and really good shot. - his mantra: ALWAYS consider the weapon loaded, even when it is not. Safety first.

PS: Coach Shor always had us point the weapons down when not is use. To this day, I automatically even point water guns down - habitual - unbelievable education, eh? Bring THAT type of learning back! or just give the teacher pensions and unions more money.
