Rehearse with the New Westchester Symphony Orchestra

Have an instrument in your closet that you've been wanting to play again? Or do you take private lessons and want to get out and play with other people? If so, come play with the New Westchester Symphony Orchestra!

The New Westchester Symphony Orchestra (NewWSO) is an audition-free, amateur community orchestra. Membership is open to all musicians of all ages and musical abilities. No matter how long it's been since you've played, whether it was just yesterday or 50 years ago, you can play with us. NewWSO plays the same repertoire that the great professional orchestras of the world play, and we do it in a fun and supportive environment. Our musicians include doctors, lawyers, writers, entrepreneurs, parents, seniors, high school students, and more, all with the common goal of making music.

Did we mention there are no auditions?

The only requirement is that you have an instrument and you are willing to be a little adventurous. This is not your standard, strict orchestra with a conductor who yells at you and fixed seating. This is a happy place where we play serious music and have serious fun. All performances are optional, and it's ok if you miss rehearsal sometimes because we know people are busy. Conductor Ben Niemczyk welcomes anyone who wants to play.

The first rehearsal is free, so come on by with your instrument and see if you like the people and the repertoire. NewWSO rehearses year-round, Wednesdays Sept-June and Tuesdays July & August. We especially need oboe, bassoon, horn, violin, viola, and bass. We currently have a waiting list for flute, clarinet, and trumpet.
