South Africa’s history of producing interesting, original and well-made wines dates back to 1659 when the Jan van Riebeeck produced the first wine recorded in the country. Today, South African wine exports have hit record volume, thanks to rising interest in the UK, Germany and here in the United States.
On April 24th, Zachys Wine and Liquor, a multi-generational business devoted to promoting the connection between great food and high quality wine and spirits, will host an exclusive grand tasting of more than 20 unique wines from both South Africa and the Loire Valley, from the portfolio of importer Cape Classics.
Guests will enjoy tastings of some of the world’s finest wines including Raats Family Original Chenin Blanc, Chinon La Cuisine Domaine Grosbois and Kanonkop Pinotage, to name a few. Chef Peter X. Kelly, who operates some of the most critically acclaimed restaurants in the Hudson Valley, will provide delicious pairings all evening.
