White Plains Market Farmers Help the Hungry

Several farmers who participate in the White Plains Farmers Market have been donating unsold goods to the Ecumenical Food Pantry of White Plains.

A group of about five farmers who participate in the weekly White Plains farmers market have been doing their part in helping those in need.

In a little-noticed act of kindness, the farmers have been giving leftover produce to the Ecumenical Food Pantry of White Plains. The City youth bureau has been picking up the leftovers every Wednesday afternoon and transporting it to the pantry.

This Wednesday, White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach will join Lorraine Buonocunto of the Ecumenical Food Pantry and members of the White Plains Parks and Recreation and Youth Bureau Departments to thank these farmers at 3 p.m.
