Ombre is the New "IT" Hair Color

Not just plan highlights anymore.....a new twist to an old fade

After my long absence I'm finally back to where I love to be: blogging about all things beautiful, stylish, and political!

A lot has happened so far in 2012.  I can happily announce my salon has won the BEST OF WESTCHESTER for best SALON & I have won the voters award for BEST HAIR COLORIST 2012.

Moving forward Styles have come and gone. Looks have completely changed. Hair is even more all the glam. But one look that is still going strong is ombré hair color. At my Scarsdale salon we perform this service at least 20 times a week. It's a glamorous look - a completely different look - and a whole new approach to coloring your hair that can enhance your look or completely change your look.

It’s a simple technique, but if ombré is not done correctly, it can look like a big old hot mess. On my clients I like to freshen up the base color, either with a Demi permanent gloss for uncolored natural hair or permanent hair color for my girls who cover their gray. Then I perform the ombré magic to transform their look.

Ombré is when the mid shaft to ends of the hair are lighter then the roots of the hair color. It should gradually go from darker to lighter without any bands or ugly breaks in the color. You can be super creative when having this service done, changing with the seasons, adding bright summer gold or subtle warm winter red to spice up your look.

Sandra Bullock has been sporting the ombré for some time now and we all know her hair is a number one Hollywood glam winner.

And it’s not just for celebs. Give it a try!

Hope to see you all at the Best of Westchester event on July 18th when Julius Michael Scarsdale presents a red carpet meet-and-greet with the glamorous and sweet - everyone's favorite couple on reality tv - Kathy & Richie Wakile!

And meanwhile … happy summer!
