FASNY: Entitled to their own OPINIONS but not to their own FACTS

November 15, 2013,
Dear Mayor and Common Council members,

It's hard to believe that FASNY returns to the same well of "proposed environmental, economic...and educational " benefits of its proposed massive 230,863 square foot campus development in White Plains at the site of the former Ridgeway Country Club.  In their 11/14/13 post "15 Environmental Groups and Leaders Endorse FASNY plan"  on the White Plans Patch allegedly written and endorsed by out-of-town environmentalists who no doubt are on the FASNY payroll.

The leading local White Plains award-winning environmental group, Eco Neighbors soundly rejects FASNY's plan as did the over 2,000 White Plains residents who signed a hard copy real petition opposing FASNY's plans.  The residents were from EVERY neighborhood in White Plains.

As the saying goes,  "everyone is entitled to their own opinions but not entitled to their own facts."   FASNY continues to have difficulty with that proposition- distinguishing fiction from fact.  Well, expensive PR firms are paid big bucks to confuse the two.

Their silly letter flagrantly tries to pass off their previously dismissed platitudes:  "conservancy... no cost to city",  partnership with WPHS regarding environment studies,  "add diversity and strength to educational system in WP",  traffic mitigation,  new WP train station hub and FASNY would  "boost the city into a new orbit" attracting young professional residents.  New ORBIT is right, indeed it sounds more like a sci-fi fantasy then a truthful presentation of the facts.

Recall, one of the only independent experts hired by the City issued their findings in the 9/12/13 TRC report.  They kindly dismissed FASNY's traffic mitigation proposals.  FASNY's  "mandatory busing program" was noted  " will NOT operate appropriately as currently proposed...under "real life" conditions."

Real life is what we all live in not a PR miasma of magical thinking.  Vote no to granting FASNY a special permit.

Thank you,
Anne M. Casey M.D.
