FASNY: DEAFENING SILENCE

October 10, 2013
Dear Mayor Roach and members of the Common Council:

In response to the untimely release of the TRC report describing the lack of a workable traffic plan for the FASNY development, there have been numerous excellent letters from many newly vocal White Plains citizens. The response from our elected officials has been, to say the least, underwhelming.

During this whole process you and the members of the Common Council have been silent having told many of us that it would be prejudicial to make any statements until the process was finished.  Elected officials have an obligation to inform the public as to what their opinions are on matters of importance to their various constituencies. This approach does not mean that there can be no change of opinion based on new facts.  But the silence on the FASNY project has been deafening and in the process has become costly and contentious.

At this point, I think there are sufficient facts to come to a decision and put this issue to rest.  Please make an informed decision and let us know the basis for your vote.

Thank you,
Harriet Baker,  Ph.D.
