FASNY: MAINTAIN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Mayor and Common Council,

After two years and a colossal number of letters to City Hall containing detailed, compelling reasons to deny FASNY their request to create their dream project, the responses by the Mayor and some common council members were pathetic.  Paraphrasing, I was astonished to hear a "YES" member's grandiose reason for acceptance-  'to put the City of White Plains on the WORLD STAGE' !!!!   Another "YES" vote sounded like a scolding by an irate teacher or mother.  With the enormous amount of information sent to these "representatives" by well-informed citizens spending immense amounts of time, these feeble comments by the CC members are disgraceful.

It was mentioned that we, the members of the community, do not have the facts right. SURPRISE! SURPRISE! HOW COULD WE if there were scarcely any responses to our letters?  With so many items to mitigate how could the "YES" people, two  CC members and the Mayor, be so definite in their decisions?  Another perplexing issue: why is the City of White Plains offering assistance to FASNY to comply with the mitigation matter?

I have lived in White Plains for over a half a century, moved to Gedney Farms forty-eight years ago and was looking forward to remain in the house and neighborhood I love.  You must realize that you are shattering my hopes and those of my neighbors with rationalizations that are unconvincing and painful.  Just stop for a minute and think of the disappointment you are generating among the people who have voted for you, and who have impressively served this community.  Your allegiance to FASNY and your acceptance of a flawed document defies good judgement.

MAINTAINING THE NEIGHBORHOOD, which you all embraced during your campaigns, is THE PARAMOUNT ISSUE.  Of all the mitigating issues which you are bending over backward to assist FASNY with, did you forget about the neighborhood?

I know you are very busy but considering all the time you have devoted to FASNY,  please spend a few moments responding to this letter.
