White Plains Patch’s mission is to make your life easier. Part of that goal is bringing everything you need to know about your city in one place, including: news and information, commerce, as well as a place to chat with neighbors about what matters most to you.
In addition to this, Patch has a number of free services that helps to help you promote your neighborhood events, announcements, local businesses and organizations.
Sign up for a Patch account to begin, by clicking “Join” at the top right corner of the page and following the directions. Once you sign in you can create your own with a photo, and information about yourself, your business or organization. Your profile page also has a message board where you and your neighbors can leave messages for each other.
You can announce your child making the honor roll, college achievements and awards, obituaries, as well as wedding and business announcements and accomplishments—or you can add upcoming events to our calendar by following the directions .
If you would like the editor to consider featuring your event or announcement on the homepage or on neighboring Patch sites email the link to email@example.com.
If you have a local business or organization in town, search for your business’ listing under the Place tab. If your business or organization doesn’t have a we'll create one—it's free.
Once you have a directory listing you can manage that listings by claiming the listing, by clicking the option on your listing page. Click on our video for more information.
Claiming your listing on Patch is like having your own mini-website on Patch and brings more visibility to your business or organization on Patch and on the Internet. When we mention your business in a story or something else we link to it, then readers can click on it to find our more about your business
Claiming your listing also allows you to:
- Respond to user reviews of your store and encourage your happy customers to rate you online
- Post an unlimited number of business photos with complete control over the photo captions
- Encourage your current clients to "follow" your listings on Patch. They will be informed every time you add an event to our calendar, a new photo to your listing or are mentioned in an article
- If you have a Facebook page you can also post a link to your listing from your Facebook wall. This will allow your network to know about your listing. You can do this every few weeks with a quick note to let your Facebook friends know to check in with your listing.
We also encourage local organization and business to comment on stories and articles that appear in the local patches. Doing so gives people in your community familiarity with your business name. Those people can find out more about you and your area of expertise when they read your comments by going to your directory listing.
