WFP Blasts Astorino on Child Care, Urges Supporters to Vote Bramson

White Plains, 10/11/13 –  The Working Families Party strongly criticized Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino's cuts to child care subsidies in an e-mail to thousands of supporters today, asking voters to elect progressive Noam Bramson to replace him in November.

“Astorino asked Westchester families to pay thousands more in child care costs, claiming the program didn't have money – even though it had a million dollar surplus last year,” said Westchester WFP Chair Patrick Welsh.  “Our working parents deserve a more compassionate County Executive who is committed to the needs of our families, and Noam Bramson has a progressive plan of action.”

The Working Families Party is New York’s grassroots progressive political party. In New York City, the WFP recently won a three-year long campaign for paid sick days; the Council has passed a bill that will guarantee paid sick days to an estimated one million New Yorkers. In Albany, WFP has won increases in the minimum wage, a landmark green jobs program, and reforms to the state’s Rockefeller drug laws

More than 10,000 voters voted on the Working Families Party line in Westchester County in 2012, margins that could be decisive for Noam Bramson in the upcoming election.

Ari,
Rob Astorino isn't telling the truth and Westchester children are hurting because of it.
Astorino asked Westchester families to pay thousands more in child care costs, claiming the program didn't have money -- even though it had a million dollar surplus last year. Hundreds of parents lost access to child care when Astorino cut support for the program. And mothers and fathers were unable to work because they couldn't leave their children at home.

Noam Bramson is running for Westchester County Executive to reverse these reckless cuts, and to invest in Westchester's children. Click here to pledge to vote for Noam Bramson on the Working Families Party line.

As County Executive, Noam will focus on fighting for Westchester’s working class families -- on issues like restoring child care, creating jobs, and making government fair and honest.

Our working parents deserve a more compassionate County Executive who is committed to the needs of our families, and Noam Bramson has a progressive plan of action. But he needs your help.

Join Noam Bramson’s campaign, and vote for Noam Bramson on the Working Families Party ballot line in November.
