White Plains: House of Cards. Let your voice be heard WED. JUNE 4. WPHS. 7pm

An informational meeting for all White Plains residents concerning encroachment of new non-residential development in or close to our neighborhoods.  It will include a discussion of the French American School of New York’s (FASNY) proposal to construct a large regional school on one of the last remaining open spaces in White Plains and other massive projects that will impact our neighborhoods.

This meeting is being sponsored by the following neighborhood associations: Gedney, North Street, Havilands Manor, Rosedale, Wyndham Close, Club Pointe, Glenbrooke and Maplemoor Pond.

FASNY

  • Why The Gedney Association and other residents filed suit against the Mayor and Common Council for violating the State Environmental Quality Review Act;
  • Impact on White Plains High School;
  • The "Conservancy" and other myths regarding the project;
  • The real traffic impact on our streets;
  • The tax implications of FASNY and other non-profits on all White Plains residents;
  • The real alternatives to FASNY;

Other Proposed Developments
  • A 250,000 square foot shopping center between East Post Road and Maple Avenue;
  • Two 23-30 story towers over the former Pavilion Mall outside the downtown core;
  • Proposed Major Expansion of White Plains as a Bus Terminal and Transportation Hub;

Questions
  • Are the Mayor and Common Council promoting the City as an urban center to the detriment of our residential neighborhoods?
  • Are the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code being violated?
  • Can the City’s infrastructure and services accommodate these proposals?
  • What can we do to protect the residential character of our neighborhoods?
The meeting will be followed by a question and answer period.  For additional information please contact info@gedneyfarms.net.
