Residents interested in becoming one of New York State's finest, take note: the deadline to apply for the State Trooper exam is Sunday.

The exam is offered every four years; so far, 26,000 have signed on to take the upcoming iteration.
"The strength of the New York State Police comes from our diversity," says superintendent Joseph D'Amico in a letter inviting applications. "We are actively seeking qualified, committed and motivated candidates from all walks of life to take the trooper exam this fall."
"To this end, I have dispatched recruiters from across the state to find those individuals," he adds. "Candidates will be competing for the chance to have a rewarding career of service to their communities and to their state." _____
