Harrison PD: White Plains Man Arrested after Suspected Car Theft

Harrison police announced the arrest of Kevin Redmond, 37, of White Plains, after he was allegedly found sleeping inside a stolen BMW Friday morning.

At about 8:30 a.m., Harrison police said they allegedly found Redmond in West Harrison, sleeping in the back seat of a black BMW that was reported stolen out of White Plains. When police approached Redmon, he allegedly ran to a residential area on Main Street and hid.

Harrison police set up a perimeter and started a door-to-door search with the assistance of detectives, K-9 Units, White Plains police and a Westchester County police helicopter.

Police searched the area for 15 minutes before finding Redmond inside the basement of an illegal apartment. Redmond, who faces several charges, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a felony; along with misdemeanor counts of obstructing government administration and criminal contempt.

Redmond is being held by police, pending an arraignment.
