Harrison Police Arrest Car Chase Suspect

Harrison police said Bansey has been arrested 13 times, including three felony and five misdemeanor convictions.

The Yonkers man allegedly responsible for leading Harrison police on a car chase and a manhunt Wednesday night was apprehended Friday.

Harrison police located Troy Bansey, 42, of Yonkers, in New Rochelle and charged him with felony counts of attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and criminal possession of stolen property, along with a misdemeanor for fleeing a police officer and a violation for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Bansey was arrested while leaving the Flavaz Barber Shop, located at 348 Huguenot St. in New Rochelle, at 2:45 p.m., police said. Harrison police said Bansey tried to run after he noticed them, but he was caught while trying to enter his vehicle.

Bansey, who police said has felony charges pending in Mount Vernon, was allegedly driving a stolen vehicle Wednesday night in Harrison when a police officer tried to stop him.

Police said Bansey drove off at a high speed, throwing marijuana and other contraband out the car window. Bansey then took police on a high speed car chase, looping through Greenwich, before returning to Harrison.

During the chase, Bansey allegedly crashed into a Harrison police officer’s vehicle several times in an attempt to run the Police Officer off the road. The officer didn’t suffer major injuries.

The pursuit came to a halt when Bansey crashed the vehicle in a private driveway in Purchase, and ran to a wooded area near White Oak Circle.

Harrison police, with assistance from K-9 units, a State Police Helicopter, Westchester County police officers, SUNY police officers and Department of Environmental Protection Officers, searched for five hours with no results.


Harrison police provided security for Purchase Elementary School and Purchase Community House, while the search was taking place.


Police said Bansey has been arrested 13 times, including three felony and five misdemeanor convictions.


Bansey remains in police custody, pending arraignment.
