Man Hits Victim in Face with Bottle, Runs from Cops: Police

Victim requires 11 stiches; Brooklyn man charged with assault.

A Brooklyn man reveling in a White Plains bar smashed a bottle into another man's face last weekend before running from police, authorities told Patch.

White Plains police responded to reports of a fight Sunday, Feb. 17 at about 2 a.m., at The Beechmont Tavern on East Post Road. When cops arrived, they spied a man standing out front bleeing heavily from his forehead and nose.

The man told police he was struck in the face with a bottle.

A simultaneous foot chase nearby nabbed the alleged attacked on Waller Avenue, by Maple Avenue, police said.

The victim was able to identify the alleged attacker while sitting inside an ambulance; police arrested John James Keenan, 22, of Batchelder Street in Brooklyn.

Keenan was charged with assault in the second degree, a felony. Police said Keenan had what appeared to be blood on his hands and clothes; authories sampled the possible blood for future DNA tests.

The victim required 11 stiches, police added.
