Man Used Burglar's Tool to Steal Clothes, Police Say

Irvington man pilfered threads from Sears, according to authorities.

An Irvington man used a burglar's tool to swipe $126 in clothes from Sears in White Plains, police said

The 63-year-old man entered the Sears’ Mens Department at 100 Main Street at 5:42 p.m. last Friday, authorities said, and pulled hats and shorts off the shelves, stuffing them into a plastic shopping bag.

Employees spied the man stealing the clothes, police said, and held him until authorities arrived. A search at police headquarters revealed a tool in his jacket pocket that is used to foil security devices, according to cops.

The man was charged with petty larceny and possession of burglars' tools, and released on $100 bail.
