Metro-North: Man Struck By Train in North White Plains Attempted Suicide

An MTA train conductor said Timothy Gadson, 25, of White Plains was lying on the tracks when his train struck him.

A 25-year-old White Plains man is suffering from broken ribs and a facial fracture after being truck by a train near the North White Plains Metro-North train station Monday night.

A Metro-North spokesperson said that the incident, which occurred at 10:45 p.m., is being investigated as an attempted suicide.

Aaron Donovan said Gadson was allegedly on the North White Plains station platform and climbed onto the tracks South of the station near Cemetery Road and Ferris Avenue.

A Metro-North conductor reported seeing a man lying on the tracks, and immediately put on the emergency break and sounded a horn to avoid a fatal strike. Gadson was taken to Westchester Medical Center, as the MTA Police investigated the incident with the assistance of White Plains Police.

The incident delayed five to six trains for up to 45 minutes Monday night. Trains were back on schedule at 12:40 a.m.
